OPEN SOURCE RECORDS Preserving the liberty of free expression

Open Source Records is a reaction to the corporate control of music via means of copyright. We believe that creativity requires that musicians reappropriate and reinterpret music and sounds to enable them to create truly innovative music.

Open Source Records holds that the fight over free and open content and media is the struggle to preserve the human right to freedom of expression in music, speech, art, and ideas, with the goal of radically opening up the possibilities of media. To this end, Open Source Records is an attempt to release music collaboratively and equitably in new and innovative ways.

Open Source is also an a free School also known as a anarchist free school. In Preserving the liberty of free expression we hope to teach and inform those who take interest in an overview of Intellectual property, copy right and net neutrality. It is in the opinion of Open Source that current IP laws and copyright have destructive and restrictive implications on the free exchange of music, art, and ideas. Open source opposes any attempt to centralize control of information or the internet by entities such as corporations and governments. We believe Net neutrality is a snare by which large corporations will use the heavy hand of government to regulate and there by control the internet for their own profits and agendas.

We hope this can be the place to share music, ideas, and information freely and peacefully. Have fun discovering new music and bands.
